My question is: Canadian-specific
QUESTION: My Child had a part-time job last year and her income was =
$10,368. I am divorced and am wondering should I delcare my daughter's =
income on my income tax retun under dependent? Thanks!

david ingram replies:
The question of whether you should report your child's income on you =
return depends upon whether you are claiming that child as a personal =
exemption on line 305 of your return. If you are claiming that child, =
her income is high enough that it will disqualify her from being your =
dependent on line 305.=20
Therefore, if you only have one child, you have lost your dependant for =
the purposes of the single or married exemption on line 305 of your =
return.
If you have another child with no income, claim that child on line 305.
And although not asked, when it comes to transferable student fees, the =
student has to use them up first on federal schedule 11.=20
