My question is: Applicable to both US and Canada
QUESTION: Hi,
I am a US resident green card holder who would like to move to and work in
Canada for 2 yrs +. It seems this would require changing the
registration/insurance of my car from US to BC.
Would I have any difficulty crossing the border back into US as a green card
holder driving a BC registered vehicle?
Could I keep the car registered to a US address while in Canada?

If you are living in BC, your car must be registerd in BC. If you are living in BC, you will also qualify for BC medical.
BEFORE you leave the US, you have to fill in an I-191 form and submit it to your local immigration office.
This form will allow you to return to the United States after your sojurn in BC.
WITHOUT FILLING IN THE FORM BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE us, YUR REGISTRATION OF YOUR CAR IN BC AND TAKING OUT BC MEDICAL WILL MEAN THAT THE HOMELAND SECURITY PEOPLE WILL ASUME THAT YOU HAVE ABANDONED YOUR US RESIDENCE.

Keping the car registered at a US address will mean that the car is uninsured in Canada if you have an accident.
