Moving to Canada or just "being here" income Taxes -

QUESTION:
If I move to Canada but do not become a Canadian citizen do I have to pay
taxes to Canada.
---
david ingram replies:
If you move to Canada you become taxable on your world income from the day
you move here.
If you are just visiting Canada and stay her more than 183 days you can
become taxable on your world income unless you still live in another country
and there is a treaty exemption (usually Article IV).
In most other cases you would be taxable on Canadian Source Income wherever
you lived with a couple of treaty exemptions if you live in a treaty
country.
For instance, a non-resident of Canada does NOT pay capital gains tax to
Canada from stock market profits. But if the Stock pays a dividend, the
dividend is taxed by Canada at the rate of 15 or 25% (depending upon country
of residence and treaty amount).
Interest earned in Canada is taxed at 10 or 25%.(depending on country of
residence).
Real estate rentals are taxed at graduated rates running from about 22 to
43%.
50 % of Real estate capital gains are taxed at the same graduated rates.
