Alan brings up a warning which is very real. Over the years i have had at least a dozen clients who have lost their cars at the border because of their passenger. However, no one has told me of it happening since Sept 11, 2001. In fact, I have had minimal horror stories since 9/11. I used to operate a business matching drivers and riders. I discovered that for cross-border trips if a passenger that you're carrying is found with drugs (as one for instance) your vehicle can be impounded (and even disassembled) at the border, with no compensation to you.
