My question is: Applicable to both US and Canada
QUESTION: I have US, Canadian, and British citizenship, and
live in BC with my girlfriend who is Canadian. We
plan to visit the US to attend a 1 week residential
workshop on personal relationships. What should
we do to minimize the risk that US Immigration at
Vancouver airport will stop her from entering the
US with me?

david ingram replies:
You need a border kit. It would include details of your residence in Canada, Her job, her phone bill , etc.
If she is in the position that you are paying the rent, the phone, the hydro, etc., thenyou have to get her name on at least the phone and hydro bills so that she has something showing she is a resident of Canada and has a home to go back to.
She should have a library card, a Rogers Video Card, a Safeway (CANADA) safeway card, a shoppers card, a Save-ON Foods card and no US identification of any sort.
A copy of her last three years of Canadian Tax Returns is handy as well.
And write a letter to the "US Port of Entry" at the Vancouver Airport explaining what you are doing, where you are going and why.
Good luck on the new relationship.
