Hi David, we spoke earlier today on the phone.
My question to you isregards to a work permit for a potential working contract from a US
company. I was approached by a sports marketing company, XXXXX XXXXX XXXX
in XXXXXXX XX to occasionally work as a bicycle mechanic at
professional events in the United States.
I've done work like this before
for the Canadian federation and other teams. Is this possible legally?
The contract would be from January to September. The longest stay in the
US at one time will be between 3-4 weeks. There will also be times when I
travelling overseas, but leaving from the US.
It is possible for me to
obtain letters from professional athletes vouching for me and my abilities.
Could you please direct me where/who I would need to speak to.
thank you,
XXXX

Start getting the letters. They will help.
It is possible but not likely. Did you ever get a US visa to travel with the Canadian teams?
What the company has to do is apply for an H1 or H2 visa for you. I am sending it out to my newsletter group which has a whole lot of immigration people on it.
One of them will likely have done it before for a ski team or bike team or something. We have sent Canadians down for the auto racing CART series.
However, it is easier in sports if you are working for a Canadian sports team or entertainment group.
Working for an American organization is another matter.
We will see if they have an answer.
