QUESTION:
how hard is it for an american citizen to be able to live in canada and work
there? Do you have to be professional? How long is the process before I move
to canada going to be?

david ingram replies:
If you were an engineer with experience in bridge building and a Canadian company wanted to hire you, or a Agrologist and a Canadian seed company needed your services or any other of 64 named occupations under 1601.d of the NAFTA Agreement, I could have you living and working in Canada in 24 hours.
However without a University degree and job offer, you would have to go through a process which could take from 3 months to 2 years.
Start off by going to: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/assess/index.html
Fill in the self assessment questionnaire. If you get over 67 points you are eligible to move to Canada. If not, you are not elegible.
Let me know what you got.
