QUESTION:
What is the approximate (Canada) tax rate on income for Canadians on TN Visa
working in the U.S.?
==================================================================
david ingram replies:
First of all, if you are in the US on a full time basis, you likely do not owe Canadian Tax. - Go to www.centa.com
click on US/Canada Taxation for 27 pages dealing with US and Canada taxation.
But (in Canadian Dollars) and assuming you are single with no dependents and using BC tax rates "do" owe Canadian taxes because your home and family is here or you are commuting, .
at $20,000, you would owe about $ 2,700
22%
at $30,000, you would owe about $ 4,900
30%
at $40,000, you would owe about $ 7,900
31%
at $50,000, you would owe about $11,000
31%
at $60,000, you would owe about $14,100
31%
at $70,000, you would owe about $17,700
36%
at $80,000, you would owe about $21,600
39%
at $90,000, you would owe about $25,600
40%
at $100,000, you would owe about $29,700
41%
at $110,000, you would owe about $34,000
43%
at $120,000, you would owe about $38,350
43.5%
Of course, these numbers are not even remotely accurate as you would have paid US Federal Tax, US state tax, US FICA, and US Medicare/
The amouint of the taxes already paid to the US would be deducted from the taxes owing to Canada.
