German Resident, Canadian Citizen - living in Germany

QUESTION:
I'm currently living in Germany - I am a
Canadian, and I want to move to the US this
year. I was reading about TN Visas - they
sound pretty good...but one question: My
boyfriend is American, I'm going there to be
with him and to get a job there. But if I
get a TN Visa they say I can't apply for US
residency. Is this something I have to worry
about if I get married down the road? Would
it be better to get an HB Visa or a TN Visa?
================================
david ingram replies:
Get an H1 visa but there will not be any issued before next October and you
can not apply until April 1, 2004.
In the meantime, if you really want to go NOW and qualify, get a TN and
switch it to an H1B after you are there and then get married and get a green
card. Remember, with a couple of exceptions, you need a university degree
in Science, architecture, engineering, etc. to get a TN.
