Subject: RCM Examinations secures RESP eligibility for private Studio
studies
Hello David,
I have been on your email list for a couple of years and have much
appreciated the emails. I thought I'd pass along an update with regard to
private music lessons: they are now (with restrictions) RESP eligible. Here
ia a quote from The Canadian Music Teacher:
Funds from Registered Education Savings plans may now be used to support
studies in music at the Grades 9, 10 and ARCT levels. Grades 9, 10 and ARCT
are now considered 'post-secondary' studies. One must submit examination
applications proving that they are "enrolled" with the Royal Conservatory of
Music. RESP funds may be used toward any of the costs associated with
musical studies including lesson fees, examination fees, music books and
instrument costs.
Sincerely,
Lindsay
