I was born in Canada but have US citizenship - how can I
get a canadian citizenship? I live in Calif. Thank you

If you were born in Canada, the easiest way to assert your citizenship is to
use your birth certificate to apply for a Canadian passport.
However, this "might" depend upon your age. If you are my age (62) you
likely lost your Canadian citizenship.
Let me explain. Up until Feb 14, 1977, Canada did not allow dual
citizenship. And, officially, the United States did not allow dual
citizenship either until 1980.
Canada changed their law but did not make it retroactive. The United States
did not change the their law but Supreme court decisions in 1967 (Afroyim v
Rusk, 387 US253) and 1980 (Vance v. Terrazas, 444 US252) turned over the
automatic loss of citizenship[ which had been contemplated in Section
349(a)(1) of the US Immigration and Nationality Act which had been effective
Dec 24, 1952.
So the combination meant that until 1977 / 80, a person who was in your
position was expected to make a decision about whether they wanted to be an
American OR a Canadian when they turned 21.
Canada stopped this request on Feb 15, 1977 and The US changed to age 18 in
1986 until they suddenly realized that the 1980 Supreme Court decision had
made the law ineffective and it just sort of dribbled away.
So if you were born in Canada, put in your passport application and see what
happens.
