Cash basis for property tax deduction -

My question is: US-specific
QUESTION: I bought a home in 2005 and paid my property tax for 2005 in
January of 2006.  I paid my property taxes for 2006 in December of 2006.
Are all these taxes deductible on my 2006 tax return?  Did I hurt myself by
paying my 2006 taxes before January 2007?

You are on a cash basis.  Whatever you paid in 2006 is a deduction in 2006
on Schedule A.
The same applies in reverse.  If you had paid $2,100 into the mortgage
company and they only paid $2,076.00 of actual property taxes, you could
only claim the $2,076.
