Hi David

My name is AXXXXXXXXXXXXX. My husband, CXXXXXXXXX and I, had a meeting =
with you a couple of weeks ago regarding our consulting practices.
Thank you for your advice.
I have a couple of questions regarding that:
=20
1.. GST registration. Do we need to register our businesses? Do we =
need to collect GST ? So far all of Chris=92s clients are in the US, so =
no GST will be collected there. In case he does have a Canadian client, =
how would his situation change?=20
2.. Would you recommend a simple bookkeeping/tax software to keep our =
books?=20
=20
Also, could you please change my email address on your distribution =
list. My current email address is XXXXXX.net. Please delete my old =
address, which is XXXXXXX
Thank you very much

!. You must register for GST if you are going to gross more than $30,000 =
Canadian. See =
http://www.centa.com/CEN-TAPEDE/centapede/2003-June/000073.html for =
an example of a client who did not register and file his returns. The =
CCRA went back 11 years.
2. You do not charge GST on exported items.
Therefore, you get to claim GST paid out as an input credit but do not =
have to collect.
When you file your GST return, you will always get a refund.
If you do get a client in Canada, you have to charge them 7% of the =
gross fee charged.
