Canadian Mummy plus American Daddy = One Baby -

QUESTION:
I am an American and have been dating my Candian girlfriend for 19 months. She is now 2 months pregnant and would like for me to move to Montreal with her. I think this is a good idea because she has a stable career and my job is extremely volatile (I work in the IT business).
1. I would like to know what the quickest way is for me to legally live and work in Canada.
2. Should I marry her?
3. Beg a Canadian company to sponsor me?
4. Or there is some kind of Baby Daddy visa I can apply for?
Thanks for your help.

This is very similar to yesterday's question from the lady who wanted to bring her man in from the UK that I was tempted to ignore it. However, your subject: Canadian Mummy plus American Daddy = One Baby - was funny enough that I assumed the readers might enjoy another whimsical look at the subject and your situation involves immigration to Quebec, an area I have NO specific expertise in and can only comment on although the principles are the same. I love Quebec by the way.
A. If you have a University degree in Computer Science and can find a Canadian Job, I can get you a NAFTA visa in a day.
If you do not have a degree, but could be considered a computer system analyst and have five years of experience, I can also 'likely" get you here in a day.
B. Canada accepts a common law marriage or a conjugal relationship as grounds for sponsorship - see "1" below for the proper pamphlet. You do not "have to" get married. However, in spite of the fact that my own 20 year marriage is in total tatters at the moment, getting married is still nicer in the long run. (now, I only have to convince my own two children who live in common-law marriages with children.).
C. Begging a Canadian company for a job and getting work authorization is good. Fill in the self-assessment questionnaire at "15" below to see where you stand in terms of permanaent status without your wife sponsoring you. If you do not get 75, you can still come on a work permit and have your wife sponsor you AFTER you get here.
We might have to consider finding you a job in Cornwall, Ontario or something to get in under the wire because it is easier to get into Canada as a NAFTA worker than the specific province of Quebec.
However, you can find the Quebec regulations at: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/anglais/immigration/permanent-worker/step.html
D. Sorry, no Baby Daddy visa and no fiancee visa to Canada either although it is one of the more popular visas for the US.
(You seem to have a great sense of humo(u)r and will be a great addition to the Canadian Mix.

I know this will help you make your decision. If we can help you, remember, that is what we do for a living. In particular you should goto www.centa.com and click on and read [US/Canada Taxation] BEFORE you come. Although specifically geared to the United States, this section contains references to Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, Libya and shows the way Canada taxes people from other countries. Article IV of the US / Canada Tax treaty is also there and reads "just about" identically to another 100 + countries that Canada has treaties with.
