Hello David, hope all is well.
I will be in conference with my American lawyer to arrange a new living trust and have contacted Joan Marsh (whom you recommended as a finance representative when my property in Whistler was purchased in March 2003) in hopes of setting up a new loan for transfer of the title.
At the time of purchase, I had been willing to go through Joan's office but found that my time had run out with the demands of escrow and I had to go with another bank than the one that would have accepted the living trust in effect at that time.
My question is:
Are there any new demands made by the IRS, the Canadian tax officials, or any documentation necessary by these or any other entity that would encumber my transfer of the title to my new living trust?
Thank you, as always,
RXXXXXXX

RXXXXX, I do not think that a living trust will be of any benefit to you in Canada and can show you all sorts of negative comments about living trusts in the US. Check out the comments at:

I say "do not think" because I have only seen expensive hassles dealing with them on the occasional basis and do not know of any advantages.
I am sending this along to the list to see if there is any outside comment available from the lawyers, CPA's CA's, and just plain people who have "been there and done that" on the list.
Comments anybody?
Should this person register a Whistler Condominium (which he already owns) in the name of a US living trust?
