My daughter just started working for Wal Mart and they asked and she agreed to get stock in their company now she has received a tax form from the USA
W-8BEN
I assume that this is for income from the stock
Can you tell me a few things about this form
DXXXXXXXXX

david ingram replies:
Go ahead and fill it out. What it does is authorize the store to deduct 15% tax (instead of 30%) on any dividends her stock earns. She will have to fill one out every three years.
She should also (in my opinion) get an ITIN (Individualk Taxpayer IdentificationNumber0. She gets this by filling in a Form W7. (Is good to give to Wal Mart for the purposes of the W8 but not required)- but will put her one notch up in the pecking order)
She can get and fill in Form W7 at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-fill/fw7.pdf
For other readers, six pages of form W8 BEN instructions can be found at:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw8ben.pdf the form itself can be found at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-fill/fw8ben.pdf
.Good to hear from you.
