QUESTION: I'm a canadian citizen working for over 3 years in the US on TN and now on H1B. I have no ties to Canada as far as family or property.
What's my taxation situation?
I have filed taxes in the U.S. Do I need to file the canadian income tax or should I apply for non-residency status?

david ingram replies:
>From what you have said, you are only required to file tax returns for the USA. No Canadian return required if you have no rental income or earnings from Canada.

If you still have an RRSP in Canada, make sure you fill in your TDF - 90 forms and report the internal earnings according to the new form which has not been issued yet for 2003.
For 2002, you should file your RRSP info under the auspices of 2002-23 which youcan find at www.centa.com in the August 2003 newsletter.
For more US / Canada Income tax information, look at [US/Canada taxation], also at www.centa.com.
