1. If you were to marry and you sponsored him into the US as a resident =
alien, he could apply for US citizenship and become a dual citizen. He =
could then sponsor into Canada and you could become a Canadian dual =
citizen. The process would take 8 to 10 years.
2. Yes. Anybody from Canada, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Turkey, Mexico, =
Pakistan, Belize, or any number of 180+ other countries can buy a =
house or any other property in the USA without being a citizen. =20
However, owning property does not give them any right to enter the =
United States to live or even just visit the property. Owning property =
in the States and not having a fixed address in Canada is enough to keep =
someone "out" of the USA, particularly if he or she has a fianc=E9e in =
the US. The Homeland Security person at the border will assume that the =
person is trying to enter the US to live their illegally and bar them =
from entry.=20
3. Yes. I have several clients where hubby lives in Canada and the =
wife in the US and vice-versa. It usually happens for medical reasons =
where one person keeps their official residence in Canada because of our =
superior Universal Health Care. (problems, yes - but still better than =
30% of the US population with no medical services).
