QUESTION:
My partner and I have often joked that we need to move to Canada. Given
circumstances in the U.S. we have begun to seriously consider moving with
our three year old twins to Canada.
We are curious about discovering the major issues to consider when making
such a choice.
We are very glad to have come across your service and if moving to Canada
while still working in the U.S. turns out to be a viable option for our
family we surely will be contacting you for more in depth consultation.
Thank you for your time and general input.
Sincerely,

david ingram replies:
You can immigrate to Canada as a gay couple. One of you will have to qualify to immigrate and sponsor the other as a spouse.
The dependants of a principal applicant in an application for permanent residence in Canada are included in the application. They do not have to be sponsored by the principal applicant.
Dependents include the spouse or common-law partner of the principal applicant. Spouses and common-law partners can be of the same or opposite sex as the principal applicant.
You can see the kind of paper work you need here. It would be better if one of you had a job offer in Canada.

This is the self-assessment test for an individual to determine his or her eligibility to immigrate to Canada without being sponsored by a spouse.
It could be that you could both qualify individually which would be easier as well.
See above.
