QUESTION: I am an Australian citizen currently studying at University. My
course (Mechanical engineering) requires me to work for six (6) months. I
would like to complete this internship in Vancouver as I have a lot of
family there and would love to see more of Canada. Is this possible? If so,
what type of visa (or other) do I need?
  Thanks

Your University Registrar's Office in australia should have the paperwork for you to get a student's working visa for Canada for up to one year.

Three other organizations that can help you are: AIPT www.aipt.org; CDS International www.cdsint.org and SWAP Canada www.swap.ca a

The first two likely have their forms and applications availavble on campus at the Registrar's office or a student counsellor's office. I checked both UBC and the University of Waterloo and found references to where to go and who to talk to at the University of Waterloo and acknowledgement of the program at UBC. It should be at yours. Australia is specifically included.

Because I am sending this out to a newsletter, anyone wanting to do the same thing can find US infromation on the program at:

Apex USA www.apexusa.org - There is an application information form you can look at at: http://www.apexusa.org/Applications/App03.pdf

  Hope this hel;ps.
