CHILD TAX BENEFIT in Canada - US Fiancee to come to

QUESTION:
My fiancee is Canadian, we will be married this summer.  I was born in =
U.S.  I have two children from a previous marriage, I have full custody. =
 Will there be a problem in getting them into schools there?  Can my new =
husband claim all three of us as deductables?

If you get residence in Canada, there will be no problems in getting =
them into schools.
Children are not deductible in Canada for married or common law couples =
living together.  You will be a deduction if you have no income.  We do =
Have a Child Benefit which is paid to you outside the tax system.  As =
soon as you get here, apply for the benefit.

        Annual maximum CCTB (including the NCBS) for the July 2002 to =
June 2003 benefit year for families with net incomes below $22,397 in =
2001  Number of Children Basic
            CCTB NCBS Total Monthly Benefit=20

            2nd child  $1151 $1087 $2238 $186.50=20

        a.. Families with net incomes below $22,397 will get the maximum =
CCTB - including the full NCBS and the supplement for the third and each =
additional child - of:
          a.. $203.66 per month ($2,444 per year) for the first child,
          b.. $186.50 per month ($2,238 per year) for the second child, =
and
          c.. $186.66 per month ($2,240 per year) for all other children =
in the family, along with any supplement for children under 7 that is =
applicable.
        b.. Families with net incomes between $22,397 and $32,960 will =
get the maximum basic CTB, the supplement for the third and each =
additional child, and a partial NCBS, along with any supplement for =
children under 7 that is applicable. Families with four or more children =
will also be entitled to a partial NCBS if their income is just above =
$32,960.
        c.. One and two-child families with net incomes between $32,960 =
and approximately $79,000 will receive partial benefits. Larger families =
may also be entitled to a partial CCTB if their income is above $79,000.
        d.. The annual Children's Special Allowances amount will =
increase from $2,372 to $2,444. The monthly amount per child will =
increase from $197.67 to $203.67 in July 2002.=20
