US visa for Australian / Scots New Regulations require

David,
Thank you for your thoughts the other day it has stirred some healthy discussion between XXXX and me.
It is likely that some time very soon we will be getting on a plane to check out the deals and people that we are looking at. Is a normal US visitors visa the correct one to apply for to look at property?
Best regards
XXXX

david ingram replies:
When you get to the US, you will be entering in B1 status as a business visitor or B2 status as a vacationer.
If you are going to be looking for property (B1) and going to Disneyland or golfing as a vacation (B2), you will be granted B1/B2 status
Please be advised that as of September 29/30, 2004, you will be fingerprinted and photographed if and when you enter the United States and as of October 26th, you and all other visa waiver countries will be required to have a Machine readable passport to enter the country. This applies to Singapore, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and another 22 European Countries that at the moment do not require specific visas to ener the United States.
In addition, if you wanted to take children with you, each child now has to have their own passport as of October 26, 2004.
I am making this part of the news group in case someone wants to respond with more information.
