I know you are from Vancouver and you can have a touch
of Vancouver in Riyadh on the internet. Listening to
some local radio on the internet will likely give you
some close ties.
For instance, CFUN has turned into Female Talk radio
for 18 hours a day.
>From 5 to 7 AM, Shannon Nelson's program is repeated
from the day before Shannon is getting remarried and
has just sold her house. The program is full of
problems she is having with "who pays what" and trying
to fit two households together.
At 7 AM Pia Shandel's show starts with a hilarious look
at whatever happened to her on the weekend or the day
before. Today's program about being at a 50th wedding
anniversary with her VIKING relatives on Bowen Island
and sleeping with her mother in a cabin was absolutely
hilarious. Pia's Producer, Libby is from New York and
although Libby never goes on the air, Pia is always
fair and tells the audience that Libby disagrees with
me.

10 AM to 1 PM is Nik and Val who spend three hours
arguing with each over day to day items that fit right
in. Shannon, by the way is trying to line Val up with
her (Shannon's) old boyfriend and Val is fighting back.
But what the heck, Shannon does not need him any more,
she has George.
1 PM brings Shannon Nelson back live until 3 PM and
then
3 PM brings in Hilarie Barsky who broadcasts from
Dallas, Texas and tries to make it sound like she is in
Vancouver. Doesn't matter, her program broadcasts
around North America on Sirius Satellite Radio. She
gets to be a hoot.
What is interesting about all this is that the programs
are female oriented but there is a large male audience
and regular male callers. I think all we males are
just trying to figure out women (an impossible task of
course) by listening but they are all a hoot.
6 PM to 8:15 PM is Dr Laura who I find a little too
rigid in her advice but most of it is right on.
8:15 is Dr Joy Brown until 10 PM when
from 10 PM to 5 AM, George Noory or the famous Art Bell
hold forth in a program which like the Dr Laura and Dr
Joy shows, is simulcast over 300 radio stations.
